Odisha Governor Urges Media to Promote Government Welfare Schemes

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati recently called on media professionals to enhance public awareness about government welfare schemes during a meeting at Raj Bhavan. He emphasized that both Central and state government programs play a significant role in improving citizens’ lives, providing essential support such as financial security and social protection.
During the interaction, Kambhampati pointed out that many citizens remain unaware of these welfare initiatives. He stated, “If the media highlights them, it can significantly expand public awareness and help more people access these benefits.” The Governor believes that informed citizens can better utilize resources such as insurance, pensions, and savings programs for their children, contributing to overall family stability and well-being.
Focus on Development and Self-Reliance
The discussion also covered various state issues, including tribal development, education, infrastructure, and rural development. Kambhampati expressed optimism about Odisha’s future, predicting that the state could achieve developed-state status by 2036. He highlighted upcoming projects by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Indian Railways, which are expected to stimulate investment and development across the region.
The Governor also cited proposed semiconductor projects and investment proposals generated during the Utkarsh Odisha initiative. “I don’t see any reason why Odisha cannot become a developed state by 2036,” he remarked, underlining the potential for growth in various sectors.
Kambhampati stressed the importance of self-reliance, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. He urged all government departments to focus on meeting the needs of the populace, which he viewed as essential for sustainable development.
Addressing Crime and Migration Challenges
On the topic of crime, Kambhampati asserted that societal awareness is crucial in preventing offenses. “We all have a responsibility,” he said, encouraging collective efforts to foster a safer environment. He also highlighted skill development as a vital component in addressing the challenges posed by migration.
As he concluded the meeting, the Governor reiterated the media’s role in disseminating information about government initiatives. He believes that by raising awareness, more citizens can take advantage of the resources available to them, ultimately leading to improved quality of life across Odisha.
