Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 Passes Censorship with Minor Cut
The upcoming comedy film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, featuring comedian Kapil Sharma, is set to release on December 12, 2023. Building on the success of its predecessor, which debuted in 2015, the film promises to deliver a mix of humor and cultural commentary as it explores themes of marriage across different religious communities.
As the release date approaches, there were concerns regarding potential censorship due to the film’s sensitive subject matter. However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has only mandated a single cut, involving the removal of an “inappropriate” use of a real name in the opening scene. The filmmakers are required to substitute it with a more suitable term. According to a source familiar with the censoring process, “All dialogues related to religion and communities have been left untouched because the makers have been careful not to hurt any sentiments. The CBFC members appreciated this move and saw no reason to ask for any cuts.”
The film has received a U/A 16+ rating, indicating that it may not be suitable for viewers under 16 years of age. This rating likely reflects the film’s exploration of a man with multiple wives, which is a central theme. Once the necessary cut was made, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 was granted its censor certificate on November 25, 2023. The film’s runtime is officially listed as 142.25 minutes, translating to approximately 2 hours and 22 minutes.
In addition to Kapil Sharma, the cast includes talents such as Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Manjot Singh, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma, Sushant Singh, Jamie Lever, and the late Asrani. Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the film aims to provide a light-hearted yet respectful take on its subject matter.
As anticipation builds for the film’s release, fans are eager to see how it balances humor with the complexities of inter-religious relationships. The filmmakers have expressed confidence that audiences from various backgrounds will appreciate the film, emphasizing that “a film like this is possible ONLY in India.”
Overall, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 appears set to entertain while navigating the nuances of cultural representation, making it a noteworthy release this holiday season.
