Dhanush Calls Love ‘Overrated’ at ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ Trailer Launch
Actor Dhanush stirred up a lively discussion at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Tere Ishk Mein, when he described love as an “overrated emotion.” The event took place in Mumbai on Saturday, and it featured the film’s lead cast, including Kriti Sanon, as well as director Aanand L Rai and producer Bhushan Kumar.
During the launch, a media representative asked Dhanush to share his thoughts on the meaning of love. He responded with surprising candor, stating, “I don’t know. I think it’s just another overrated emotion.” This remark caught both the media and Sanon off guard, prompting her to say, “I don’t think Shankar will agree with you on this,” referencing Dhanush’s character, Shankar, in the film.
Dhanush quickly clarified that he is fundamentally different from his on-screen persona. “As I told you before, I am nothing like Shankar,” he emphasized, providing insight into his perspective on the character he portrays.
About ‘Tere Ishk Mein’
In Tere Ishk Mein, Dhanush plays Shankar, a passionate and volatile lover. His character experiences heartbreak, which fuels his desire for vengeance, leading him to threaten to burn “entire Delhi” for his lost love. Sanon portrays Mukti, a young woman whose romance with Shankar faces insurmountable challenges.
The project was first announced by director Aanand L Rai on the tenth anniversary of his previous success, Raanjhanaa, a film that also starred Dhanush. The teaser for Tere Ishk Mein features an intense monologue from Dhanush, offering a glimpse into his character’s turbulent emotional landscape.
The film is produced under the banners of Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Colour Yellow Productions, with a production team that includes Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Kumar, and Krishan Kumar. ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ is set to be released in theatres on November 28, 2023.
As anticipation builds ahead of its release, Dhanush’s candid take on love provides an intriguing contrast to the romantic narrative of the film, raising questions about the complexities of love and relationships in cinematic storytelling.
