Chiranjeevi Faces Backlash for ‘Dancing with Girl’ Comment
The prominent Telugu cinema actor Chiranjeevi has drawn significant criticism on social media following remarks he made during a speech at the Telangana Rising Global Summit. The comments, which referenced a moment when he was “dancing with a girl,” have sparked a backlash among internet users, who deemed his choice of words inappropriate.
During the summit held on December 9, 2025, Chiranjeevi was sharing his experience of being invited to the event when he made the contentious statement. He recounted that he was in the middle of a dance at Annapurna Studios when he received the invitation from Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana. The actor expressed his surprise at being invited, noting, “You may feel that every other chief guest present here belongs to fields such as finance, automobile, or politics. You might feel like, what is a film star like Chiranjeevi doing here? Not just you, even I feel that way.”
The actor’s comments, meant to be humorous, quickly drew negative attention. Many users on the platform X criticized him for the phrase “dancing with a girl,” suggesting that it was unnecessary and poorly phrased. One user remarked, “He has completely lost his senses. Bringing up a ‘girl’ topic was totally unnecessary here. He could have simply said he was in a shooting.” Others echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that such remarks are inappropriate in formal settings.
Chiranjeevi’s comments have raised questions about the kind of language used by public figures during significant events. Critics have called for more thoughtfulness in public discourse, particularly from celebrities. A user pointed out, “At some point, we should stop inviting celebrities who cannot have control on their words to this kind of summit.”
Despite the controversy, Chiranjeevi continues to maintain a strong presence in the film industry. He is set to appear in the upcoming film Vishwambhara, scheduled for release in summer 2026, along with other projects, including Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and an untitled film with director Srikanth Odela.
As public figures navigate their roles in society, incidents like this highlight the importance of careful communication, particularly in events that aim to inspire and promote progress across various sectors.
