Akshay Kumar Honors Late Co-Star Asrani with Heartfelt Tribute
Akshay Kumar has paid tribute to his longtime co-star, the veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, who passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 84. The actor shared his feelings on Instagram, reflecting on Asrani’s impactful career and their recent encounter during the filming of Priyadarshan’s upcoming project, Haiwaan.
In his emotional post, Kumar expressed his profound grief, stating, “Speechless with grief at the passing of Asrani Ji. We had just shared the warmest of hugs just a week back at the shoot of Haiwaan. Bahot pyare insaan the…he had the most legendary comic timing.” He went on to list several of their collaborations, including iconic films such as Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Welcome, emphasizing the invaluable lessons he learned from Asrani.
Legacy and Last Rites
Asrani’s contributions to the film industry have left an indelible mark. He was widely respected for his comedic talent, which brought joy to countless audiences. Following his passing, a wave of tributes flooded social media, with fans and fellow actors alike recalling his most memorable performances.
Asrani’s last rites were conducted at the Santacruz Crematorium, attended by family members mourning the loss of their beloved relative. According to his manager, Babu Bhai Thiba, Asrani passed away at 15:00 hours at Arogya Nidhi Hospital, located in Juhu. He is survived by his wife, sister, and nephew.
In addition to the heartfelt remembrances from Akshay Kumar, Asrani will continue to be featured posthumously in Priyadarshan’s upcoming films, including Bhoot Bangla and Haiwaan. The legacy of Govardhan Asrani as a beloved actor and comedian will undoubtedly resonate within the industry for years to come, as he provided audiences with a million reasons to smile.
