Aamir Khan Addresses Weight Gain Due to Steroid Treatment

Aamir Khan has clarified the reasons behind his recent weight gain, attributing it to steroid treatment for chronic migraines. The actor’s appearance at the fourth season of Ajivasan Act in Mumbai drew significant public attention not only for his singing but also for his altered physique. Many photographs and videos circulated on social media, prompting fans to express their concerns regarding his health.
During the event, Khan wore a patterned blue kurta and trousers, but it was his unexpected weight gain that sparked discussions among viewers. In a candid interview with the Deccan Chronicle, he explained, “I’ve had migraines for a while and require steroid medication. That causes me to gain weight; I can’t help it.” His admission has resonated with fans who empathize with the challenges of managing health conditions alongside the side effects of necessary treatments.
Public Reaction and Support
The public response on social media has been mixed, with many fans expressing their support for the actor. One user remarked, “It’s unfortunate because the Khans are pretty old now, and these will just multiply with time. Hopefully, his health difficulties are not serious.” Another comment highlighted the challenges faced by older actors, stating, “He does not need to explain his weight gain. Amir, SRK, Salman, and Akshay are all around the age of 60; we should give them a break and stop body shaming them.”
Many initially speculated that Khan’s weight gain was for an upcoming film, particularly a biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke. However, he reassured fans that his focus is on regaining fitness. “I’ve begun my diet and gym routine because I need to get back in shape for whatever my next feature is,” he said.
Health Challenges and Future Plans
When asked about the progress of his treatment, Khan revealed, “No, because they’re not able to figure out why it’s happening. The steroid is taking the headaches away. But I can’t keep taking steroids. Sometimes, you know, it’s difficult to diagnose exactly why things are happening. I understand it’s complicated.”
Khan’s latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, serves as a spiritual sequel to his acclaimed 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par. The movie features a fresh cast, including Genelia D’Souza and several newcomers. Additionally, Khan made a cameo appearance in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which includes prominent actors such as Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna.
As Khan navigates both his health challenges and the entertainment industry, his transparency regarding his weight gain and health issues continues to foster understanding and support among his fans.
