Yogi Adityanath Launches Vision to Transform Uttar Pradesh Agriculture

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming Uttar Pradesh into a global leader in agriculture. This strategy, termed ‘Viksit UP @2047’, outlines a comprehensive plan to enhance the state’s agricultural productivity and export capabilities. The immediate goal is for Uttar Pradesh to lead India in crop productivity and agricultural exports by 2030. In the long term, the vision aspires for the state to rank among global agricultural powerhouses such as the USA, France, China, and Australia by 2047.
A Comprehensive Roadmap for Agricultural Advancement
The plan emphasizes the integration of innovation, sustainability, and scientific advancements within the agricultural sector. It focuses on six core pillars: storage and value addition, processing infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, research and education, crop diversification, and the adoption of modern technology. Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the importance of linking agriculture with industrial growth, asserting that this synergy is vital for positioning Uttar Pradesh as a driving force in a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.
With this integrated approach, the state aims not only to enhance farmer incomes but also to establish Uttar Pradesh as a global benchmark in agricultural development.
Transformative Goals and Infrastructure Development
By 2030, Uttar Pradesh aims to achieve several significant targets:
– Lead India in crop productivity.
– Secure the top position in agricultural exports.
– Emerge as a hub for agri-innovation and education.
Looking ahead to 2047, the state intends to match or exceed nations such as Mexico, China, and Russia in agricultural advancements.
To support these goals, Uttar Pradesh is expanding its network of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Significant investments are being made in cold chain systems, storage facilities, and food processing units. These developments are aimed at minimizing post-harvest losses and enhancing the value of agricultural produce.
Before the onset of the Yogi Adityanath administration in 2017, the agriculture sector in Uttar Pradesh faced multiple challenges, including low productivity and limited use of technology. Over the past eight years, the government has implemented scientific agricultural practices, strengthened local markets (mandis), and connected farmers with modern agricultural infrastructure.
Through this comprehensive strategy, Uttar Pradesh is not only prioritizing kisan kalyan (farmer welfare) but is also creating a model for sustainable, technology-driven, and export-oriented agriculture.
