Uttar Pradesh Launches Youth Employment Schemes to Boost Careers
The government of Uttar Pradesh has unveiled a suite of youth employment schemes aimed at reducing unemployment and enhancing career opportunities for young people. These initiatives include the Rojgaar Sangam Portal, which connects job seekers with employers, and the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana (MYSY), providing financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs. The government’s strategy seeks to bridge the gap between education and industry, fostering economic development within the state.
Rojgaar Sangam Portal: A Pathway to Employment
The Rojgaar Sangam Portal, also referred to as the Sewayojan UP Portal, is an online platform that facilitates connections between job seekers and potential employers. It offers a wide range of job opportunities across government, private, and outsourced sectors. The portal also organizes Rojgar Melas, or job fairs, allowing candidates to find positions that match their qualifications and skills.
To register on the portal, applicants must provide a Class 10 mark sheet, proof of address such as an Aadhaar card, a mobile number, and a passport-sized photograph. Once registered, users can access the portal at sewayojan.up.nic.in. They can browse available job categories by clicking the “Job” icon on the homepage, using filters for location, job type, and salary to refine their search.
Supporting Young Entrepreneurs with MYSY
Launched on September 15, 2018, the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana aims to encourage entrepreneurship among unemployed youth. Eligible individuals aged between 18 to 40 years, who are permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh and have completed at least high school, can apply for loans of up to ₹25 lakh at a subsidised interest rate of 6%. This financial assistance is intended to cover essential costs such as machinery, raw materials, and working capital, empowering youth to start their own businesses.
The application process requires that candidates not be defaulters of nationalised banks, and income ceilings apply—₹2 lakh for OBC, Minority, and General categories, and ₹2.5 lakh for SC/ST categories.
The Scheme for Training of SC/ST Youth in Uttar Pradesh further complements these efforts by offering skill development and entrepreneurial training specifically for SC/ST candidates, including women. Participants receive one month of theoretical instruction followed by three months of practical training at designated centres. Upon completing the programme, they are provided with toolkits relevant to their chosen trades, enhancing their employability. The scheme stipulates a minimum age of 18 years and a maximum of 45 years for participants. While literacy is not a requirement for non-technical trades, candidates interested in technical fields must have completed at least Class 8.
Centralized Resource through YUVA SATHI Portal
The YUVA SATHI Portal serves as a centralized platform for young individuals in Uttar Pradesh, offering details on various government schemes and services. This initiative aims to engage and empower youth by providing insights into skill development programmes, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, scholarships, vocational training, and career counselling. The portal acts as a comprehensive resource for young people seeking to navigate their career paths effectively.
These youth employment schemes introduced by the Uttar Pradesh government represent a significant step towards addressing unemployment and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship. By providing essential resources and support, the government aims to empower young individuals, contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Through these initiatives, the government of Uttar Pradesh is not only tackling immediate employment challenges but also investing in the long-term prosperity of its youth. By equipping them with the necessary skills and resources, the aim is to cultivate a self-sufficient and thriving workforce capable of making meaningful contributions to the economy.
