PM Modi Launches World Food India 2025 in New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World Food India (WFI) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on March 15, 2024, at 18:00. This edition of WFI is poised to be the largest to date, featuring participation from over 90 countries and more than 2,000 exhibitors. Tens of thousands of stakeholders, covering the entire food value chain from farm to fork, are expected to attend.
The event represents one of the largest gatherings of senior government officials, investors, and business leaders in the food sector. It aims to create a platform for producers, food processors, equipment manufacturers, cold chain operators, and logistics providers to showcase their innovations and strengths. The event also includes high-level knowledge sessions and panel discussions with global thought leaders, policymakers, and industry experts.
Showcasing Innovations and Opportunities
Sectoral exhibitions at WFI 2025 will highlight advancements in food processing, packaging, machinery, and cold chain technologies. The event is designed not only for showcasing but also for facilitating B2B and B2G networking opportunities, which are crucial for forging new partnerships and collaborations within the industry.
Culinary experiences and chef competitions will add vibrancy to the event, celebrating India’s rich food heritage while introducing emerging global trends in sustainable and futuristic foods. Among the major international events coinciding with WFI 2025 are the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS), hosted by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI). These initiatives aim to enhance global food safety standards and promote India’s seafood export potential.
Aiming for a Developed India
WFI 2025 is seen as a critical step toward realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which aims to establish India as a developed and globally competitive nation. The event seeks to integrate technology, investment, and innovation to improve farmer incomes, reduce post-harvest losses, create jobs in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and promote rural prosperity.
The initiative is anchored on five pillars: sustainability, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, global leadership, and innovation. It emphasizes climate-smart technologies, nutrition-focused products, and advanced food-tech solutions while supporting micro-enterprises and capacity building under the Make in India initiative. New Zealand and Saudi Arabia are participating as Partner Countries, while Japan, the UAE, Vietnam, and Russia are designated as Focus Countries, reflecting India’s growing international cooperation in the food sector.
The presence of these nations is expected to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance knowledge exchange, and create new opportunities for global trade and investment. The official statement underlines the significance of WFI 2025 in shaping the future landscape of the food industry, with a focus on collaboration and innovation that addresses both local and global needs.
