MoSPI’s Special Campaign 5.0 Achieves Significant Cleanliness Gains
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has successfully concluded its Special Campaign 5.0, which ran from October 2 to October 31, 2025. This initiative resulted in a remarkable 27% increase in cleanliness drives compared to the previous year’s efforts. The campaign involved activities at 194 locations across India, significantly enhancing both cleanliness and administrative efficiency.
During the campaign, a total of 3,960 square feet of office space was freed up, contributing to improved functionality within the ministry. Additionally, the initiative generated revenue of ₹7.71 lakh through the disposal of e-waste and scrap materials. The campaign also included a thorough review of 66 physical files, leading to the removal of 23 files, while 89 e-files were reviewed, resulting in the closure of 35 e-files.
Implementation and Monitoring
The Special Campaign 5.0 commenced with a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to September 30 and transitioned into the Implementation Phase, which spanned from October 2 to October 31. The campaign was closely monitored by the Secretary of MoSPI, ensuring that progress was reported daily on the SCDPM portal.
As part of the campaign, best practices such as the implementation of e-Office and online payment through the PFMS portal were promoted across all field-level offices. These practices aim to streamline administrative processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Broader Government Initiatives
The success of MoSPI’s campaign aligns with wider government directives aimed at improving public service efficiency. According to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the campaign was also extended to the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) and its various field units, including Licensed Service Areas (LSAs) and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
All government offices, including Indian Missions and Posts abroad, were instructed to identify specific targets during the preparatory phase. These targets included reviewing and streamlining official records, addressing long-standing public grievances, and responding to inquiries from Members of Parliament and state governments.
The positive outcomes of Special Campaign 5.0 highlight the commitment of the Indian government to enhance cleanliness and administrative efficiency across its various departments. As a result of these efforts, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has set a strong precedent for future initiatives aimed at improving public sector operations.
