Kia Set to Launch Three Premium SUVs in India by 2026

Kia is preparing to strengthen its presence in the Indian automotive market with the launch of three premium SUVs by 2026. The South Korean manufacturer is focusing on both electric and hybrid models, aiming to cater to aspirational and affluent customers in the segment priced above 10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
The first of these models, the Syros EV, is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2026. This electric SUV will be produced in India and is derived from the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Syros. While design changes are minimal, the Syros EV is anticipated to feature a covered grille with active air flaps, which will serve as a key distinguishing element. The charging port will be conveniently located on the right front fender.
Equipped with locally manufactured lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Exide Energy, the Syros EV should be capable of traveling approximately 400 km on a full charge. Additionally, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging function is likely to be available. Pricing for the Syros EV is projected to fall within the 15-20 lakh rupees range (ex-showroom).
Next-Generation Seltos Set for a Revamp
In the second quarter of 2026, Kia will unveil the next generation of its popular Seltos model, which played a significant role in the brand’s success in India. The revamped Seltos will retain its crossover character but will present a fresh aesthetic, moving away from the conventional looks of its predecessor. Spy images reveal new design elements, including squarish headlamps with modern graphics, EV5-like vertical tail lamps connected by a light band, and new geometric designs for the alloy wheels.
The next-gen Seltos will likely come equipped with a host of upgraded comfort and convenience features. These may include ventilated rear seats, a power tailgate, and a Trinity Panoramic Display running ccNC software. Furthermore, an enhanced suite of advanced driver assistance systems with Level 2 autonomy is in the pipeline. The expected starting price for the next-generation Seltos is around 11 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
Potential Launch of the Sorento Hybrid
Looking ahead to the end of 2026, Kia is rumored to introduce its first hybrid SUV in India, potentially the Sorento. The company has developed a new chassis code, MQ4i, specifically for this model, indicating plans for full-scale manufacturing and market-specific enhancements. The global version of the Sorento Hybrid features a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, but Kia may opt for a smaller 1.5-litre turbocharged engine for the Indian market, allowing for greater localization of components.
In summary, Kia is making significant moves to reinvigorate its lineup in India with these three premium SUVs, aiming to appeal to a wide range of consumers while emphasizing electric and hybrid technologies. The automotive landscape in India is evolving rapidly, and Kia’s strategic launches are poised to capture the attention of potential buyers looking for advanced and stylish vehicles.
