The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) has taken a significant step toward enhancing cooperation between India and Germany by signing multiple agreements during its 59th Annual Regional Meet. These agreements focus on industrial development, skill enhancement, and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

At the event, a key highlight included the formal exchange of a Letter of Intent between the IGCC and the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation. This exchange aims to strengthen the MSME sector in Andhra Pradesh, facilitating the entry of German industries into the state’s manufacturing and trade sectors. Present at the exchange were Kondapalli Srinivas, Andhra Pradesh Minister for MSME, and Vishwa Manoharan, CEO of the AP MSME Development Corporation.

Ranjit Pratap, Chairman of the Southern Region Council at IGCC, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it would pave the way for German expertise, technology transfer, and high-standard industrial practices to benefit local MSMEs. Plans include introducing a German curriculum-based technical training framework and establishing world-class technical training centers in Andhra Pradesh.

Establishment of Skill Development Centre at MEPZ

Another notable agreement was signed between the Gedee Technical Training Institute (GTTI), the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), and a Section 8 Company, which includes shareholders from IGCC and the German Business Group in Chennai. This memorandum of understanding (MoU) focuses on establishing a dedicated Skill Development Centre at MEPZ in Tambaram, Chennai.

The Skill Development Centre is designed to deliver German-standard industrial training and will play a transformative role in developing a skilled workforce at a time when industries increasingly require high-precision engineering talent. The first phase will concentrate on providing practical training in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining and Digital Manufacturing Tools, while the second phase will offer specialized training aligned with international certification standards.

During the signing ceremony, Michael Hasper, Consul General of Germany in Chennai, was in attendance, alongside industry leaders including VG Sakthikumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt. Ltd., and Seetharaman, Executive Chairman of Super Auto Forge (P) Ltd.

Future Prospects and Commitments

The partnership aims to equip the youth of Tamil Nadu with the skills needed for advanced roles within the state and to open doors to globally recognized career opportunities.

In his remarks during the Annual Regional Meet, Ranjit Pratap reiterated the growing significance of Indo-German trade and manufacturing, stating, “IGCC aims to facilitate and improvise the existing bond between the two countries. These partnerships demonstrate our commitment to advancing industrial potential and developing skilled talent that will define the future growth of our country.”

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening the Indo-German partnership, fostering economic growth, and driving innovation among its members. The agreements signal a promising future for collaboration in skill development and industrial advancement, ultimately benefiting both nations.
