BJP Leader Alleti Accuses Telangana Government of Land Scam

Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, the floor leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, has raised serious allegations against the state government’s Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) Policy, labeling it a “land looting” scheme designed for profit. This criticism follows the recent issuance of Government Order GO-27 on November 22, 2025, which reclassified 9,292 acres of industrial estates and parks within the Outer Ring Road to multi-use zones.

During a press conference, Reddy accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his administration of orchestrating what he described as a massive land scam. He estimates the financial implications of this scheme at approximately Rs 6.29 lakh crore, claiming that the government is undervaluing these lands for conversion at merely 30% of the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) rates. Reddy argued this undervaluation permits officials and ministers to gain unjust benefits while selling prime land significantly below its market value.

Reddy asserted that the state could potentially resolve all its debts by utilizing the revenue generated from these lands. Instead, he contended that the government is facilitating a corrupt agenda that enriches a select few. He called for an immediate suspension of the HILT policy and urged for legislative discussion before any further actions are taken.

The BJP leader further alleged that the administration is using the policy to bolster the Chief Minister’s political standing, suggesting that it is part of a strategy linked to the Gandhi family. He criticized the Congress government for allegedly misusing this policy to maintain their control over the state.

Reddy proposed that the land designated for industrial use could be better allocated for public benefits, such as housing projects and integrated townships, rather than creating a “land bank” for profit-making. He emphasized inconsistencies in the policy’s land conversion rates and highlighted what he termed blatant undervaluation as a scam.

He concluded his remarks with a warning about the serious consequences that may arise if the HILT scheme is not reconsidered and opened for discussion in the Assembly. The situation underscores a growing concern over transparency and accountability within governmental policies in Telangana.
