Shah Rukh Khan Celebrates First National Award in Three Decades

Shah Rukh Khan received his first National Award in thirty years during the 71st National Film Awards held on September 23, 2025. The award was for his role in the film Jawan, which not only achieved remarkable box office success but also solidified Khan’s place in Indian cinema’s history. Accompanied by fellow actors Rani Mukerji and Vikrant Massey, Khan made an unforgettable appearance at the ceremony in Delhi.
During the ceremony, Khan was affectionately referred to as the “King of Hearts” by the event’s host, who praised his journey from theatre performances in Delhi to global recognition. The host remarked, “And history is made, Shri Shah Rukh Khan ji. The man whose smile has crossed borders… received his first National Award.” This acknowledgment highlighted the significance of Khan’s career and legacy. The celebration was further amplified by Khan’s playful response as he blew kisses to the audience, showcasing his charismatic personality.

The 71st National Film Awards recognized several outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. Shah Rukh Khan’s win for Best Actor was shared with Vikrant Massey, who was honored for his performance in 12th Fail. The Best Actress award went to Rani Mukerji for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Additionally, the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award was presented to Monalal, acknowledging his significant impact on the industry.
Khan’s victory was celebrated not only by fans but also by his family. His wife, Gauri Khan, took to Instagram to express her pride. She shared a heartfelt message, stating, “What a journey it’s been @iamsrk. Congratulations on winning the National Award!!! So deserving… it’s a result of your years of hard work and dedication.” Gauri also mentioned her plans to design a special mantle for the award, emphasizing the personal significance of this achievement.
Looking Ahead: Upcoming Projects
Following this milestone, Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in the upcoming action film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. This project will feature a star-studded cast, including Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, and Abhishek Bachchan. Recently, Khan also made a cameo appearance in Aryan Khan‘s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, further expanding his contributions to the film industry.
