Devansh Prasad Celebrates Dual Award Wins at Bhartendu Natya Academy

Devansh Prasad, a distinguished graduate in Masters of Dramatic Arts, has received two prestigious awards at the Bhartendu Natya Academy (BNA) in Lucknow. This recognition coincided with the celebration of the 175th birth anniversary of renowned poet, writer, and playwright Bhartendu Harishchandra on March 12, 2024. Prasad was honored with the newly established Padma Shri Raj Bisaria gold medal for achieving the highest marks in his program.

The gold medal will be formally presented to Prasad during the convocation ceremony at Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya on March 13, 2024. In addition to this accolade, Prasad received the Pratibha Srivastava award and the Mrigang Sharma award. He also received a trophy and a cash prize of INR 11,000 as part of the celebrations.

Reflecting on his achievements, Prasad expressed gratitude, stating, “I had never expected to get such recognition, but surely my hard work and prayers of my parents worked for me. I dedicate the awards to my parents, who never questioned my career choice and always want to make them more proud by becoming a commercial actor.”

The ceremony featured several esteemed guests, including Achyutanand Mishra, the former Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal. Mishra elaborated on the lasting impact of Bhartendu Harishchandra’s contributions to Hindi literature and theatre, emphasizing that his work continues to inspire audiences today.

BNA chairperson Rati Shankar Tripathi underscored the importance of Harishchandra’s legacy, urging the youth to engage with his literature for guidance in various aspects of life, including education and career choices. Tripathi remarked, “He contributed immensely to the world of Hindi literature, and today’s youth should read his work for guidance in life.”

BNA director Bipin Kumar concluded the event by thanking the guests for their presence and support, further highlighting the significance of the awards in encouraging young talent in the performing arts.

This recognition of Devansh Prasad not only marks a personal achievement but also serves to inspire aspiring artists in the realm of drama and theatre.
