Former minister and BRS MLA G. Jagadish Reddy has called on the Telangana government to urgently address the ongoing shortage of urea affecting farmers in the region. Speaking to the media in Suryapet on March 10, 2024, Reddy criticized local police for allegedly acting under political influence and urged them to focus on maintaining law and order instead.

Reddy’s remarks follow reports of farmers struggling to obtain urea, which is essential for agricultural productivity. He condemned the response of the Congress government, stating that it has failed to deliver justice to farmers, with the urea shortage exemplifying this shortcoming. Reddy expressed particular concern over the actions taken by the Suryapet police against a BRS leader who shared a video on social media showing long lines of farmers waiting for urea.

He emphasized that police should not be swayed by political pressures and should perform their duties impartially. “Our members, who have participated in the Telangana agitation and faced imprisonment, do not fear these false charges,” he asserted, calling for a more balanced approach from law enforcement.

Infrastructure Developments in Warangal

In a separate announcement, the Centre has identified Warangal for the construction of a new ring road to alleviate traffic congestion. This project is part of a national initiative to establish 34 new access-controlled ring roads across India aimed at enhancing highway speeds, particularly in cities with populations under 500,000.

The proposed ring road in Warangal will be designed as a greenfield corridor, allowing for high-speed travel of up to 120 km/h. With traffic jams increasingly common in smaller cities, this initiative seeks to address a problem that was once primarily associated with larger urban areas. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has requested cooperation from the Telangana government to expedite the project. States are expected to contribute financially, either through direct funding or land acquisition support, as they stand to benefit significantly from improved infrastructure.

The Union ministry has also noted that highway construction could play a role in tackling solid waste management challenges, suggesting that materials from municipal dump sites could be utilized in road construction.

Community Health Initiatives and Local Incidents

In other news, a free medical camp was held on March 10, 2024, for students at the Government Girls Hostel in Bheemaram, organized by the Organization for Backward Classes (OBC). The camp offered health check-ups, including gynecological and dental examinations, to 130 students. S. Sundar Raj Yadav, the former chairman of KUDA and president of the OBC, inaugurated the event and pledged ongoing support for backward class communities.

Yadav highlighted that despite decades of independence, backward class communities still face significant challenges. He announced plans for similar health camps across the district to ensure better health access for these students.

In a separate incident, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, advisor to the state government, was involved in a minor accident in Kamareddy when his convoy struck a divider while avoiding a speeding car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Shabbir was on his way to a meeting regarding reservations for backward classes when the incident occurred. The quick response of the driver prevented potential harm, ensuring the safety of all involved.

These events highlight ongoing challenges and initiatives within Telangana, showcasing the need for immediate governmental action in various sectors while also emphasizing community support and health initiatives aimed at improving life for residents.
