Prithiviraj Harichandan, the Minister for Law, Works, and Excise in Odisha, conducted an inspection of the ongoing road construction from Sundarpada to Jatni on Friday, November 3, 2023. During the visit, he emphasized the need for timely completion and directed contractors and departmental officials to finish the project by the end of November.

The road, which spans 13.5 kilometers, is set to be transformed into a four-lane stretch to improve connectivity between the two locations. Minister Harichandan urged the officials to expedite the work, highlighting that timely completion is essential for the benefit of local commuters and overall traffic management.

Addressing Utility Concerns

In addition to the road construction, the minister reviewed related infrastructure projects, including drainage, sewerage, and electrification utilities. These elements are often critical to the timely completion of road widening projects but can cause significant delays if not managed properly. Minister Harichandan’s focus on these utilities underscores the importance of integrated planning in infrastructure development.

Present at the inspection were Babu Singh, MLA for Ekamra-Bhubaneswar, former minister Suresh Kumar Routray, and key officials including Dhyanachand Nayak, the chief engineer for roads, and Manoj Mahanand, the chief construction engineer for Bhubaneswar. Also in attendance was Sachin Sahu, the superintending engineer, along with representatives from various line departments and the contracting agency.

The collective involvement of these officials indicates a concerted effort to ensure that the project meets its deadlines and adheres to quality standards. The minister’s directive aims to enhance the efficiency of the construction process, thereby minimizing disruptions for residents and commuters alike.

As the project progresses, the state government remains committed to improving road infrastructure, which is crucial for economic development and accessibility in the region. The Sundarpada-Jatni road construction is a significant step towards achieving these goals, and the timely completion of this project will enhance connectivity and support local growth.
