Rinku Singh Secures Asia Cup Spot After Stellar IPL Performance

Rinku Singh’s recent performance in the UPT20 league has solidified his position in the Asia Cup 2025 squad. The explosive batsman delivered an impressive innings, scoring an unbeaten 108 runs off 48 balls against the Meerut Mavericks, which included seven fours and eight sixes. His remarkable feat came during a challenging match where his team was struggling at 38/4 while chasing a target of 168.
Following this significant achievement, Rinku addressed the media regarding his selection for the Asia Cup. He expressed his initial doubts about making the 15-member squad led by Suryakumar Yadav. “I wasn’t sure about my selection as many things were going on in my mind before the selection. I was a little worried about my chances. Other people had also done well in the IPL. So, I was a little worried,” he stated, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Despite a lackluster performance in the IPL 2025 season, where he scored 206 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate of 153.73, Rinku’s role as a lower-order batsman makes his contributions noteworthy. He acknowledged that he did not achieve a half-century during the tournament but remained confident in his abilities.
Rinku also reflected on his previous disappointment of not being included in the T20 World Cup 2022, where India emerged victorious against South Africa in the final. “I missed the T20 World Cup last year, and I wanted a chance to stage a comeback in the side. This time, the selectors gave me a chance, and I will try my best to live up to the expectations,” he added.
As the Asia Cup approaches, Rinku Singh is determined to prove his worth and validate the selectors’ confidence in him. His recent performance has not only silenced critics but also set the stage for a potentially impactful role in the upcoming tournament. The cricket community will be watching closely as he aims to translate his IPL success onto the international stage.
