PM Modi Criticizes Congress, Highlights New Highway Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong critique of the Congress party during a recent event in Delhi, accusing them of undermining the Constitution and betraying the ideals of BR Ambedkar. This statement came as he inaugurated two major national highway projects valued at nearly Rs 11,000 crore.

During the event, Modi asserted that previous governments had perpetuated oppressive laws, including provisions within the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act of 1957 that could imprison sanitation workers for failing to report to work. He emphasized the need to reform such outdated practices, framing his administration as the champion of social justice. “I am telling you the truth of how those who dance with the Constitution on their heads trampled the Constitution and betrayed Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he remarked.

Modi’s comments targeted the Congress party’s record on social justice, suggesting that their policies were hypocritical. “They now talk big about social justice. They made and kept such laws. It is Modi who is removing these laws and repealing them,” he stated. His remarks aimed to highlight his government’s efforts to repeal unjust laws that he claims have negatively impacted marginalized workers.

In addition to addressing historical grievances, Modi provided a glimpse into his administration’s ongoing initiatives. He criticized the previous Congress government in Haryana for alleged corruption and lack of transparency in job appointments. “There was a time in Haryana, during the Congress governments, when it was difficult to get even a single appointment without spending money or using influence,” he said. He contrasted this with the current administration’s approach, which he claims has provided numerous jobs with complete transparency.

Modi also drew on cultural references to illustrate his vision for India’s future. Celebrating the festival of Janmashtami, he urged citizens to take inspiration from Lord Krishna for strengthening the nation, while advocating for self-reliance by following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. “We need to make Vocal for Local our life’s mantra,” he added, emphasizing the importance of supporting local industries.

The Prime Minister inaugurated two significant national highway projects during the event: the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). The 10.1 km section of the Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of approximately Rs 5,360 crore. This project aims to enhance multi-modal connectivity, linking various transport systems, including the upcoming Bijwasan railway station.

The Urban Extension Road-II, which connects Alipur to Dichaon Kalan, and includes new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, was developed at a cost of around Rs 5,580 crore. Modi highlighted that these projects are designed to ease traffic congestion in Delhi, facilitating smoother mobility for goods and passengers across the National Capital Region.

Overall, the event served as a platform for Modi to reinforce his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and social reform, while positioning his government in stark contrast to the previous Congress leadership.
