BEST Launches Extra Bus Services for New Year’s Eve Celebrations

On December 31, 2025, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will enhance its public transport offerings by running additional bus services throughout Mumbai. This initiative aims to facilitate smooth travel for those attending New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city.

BEST officials announced that the extra services will focus on key routes leading to popular destinations, including the Gateway of India, Juhu Chowpatty, Gorai Creek, and Marve Chowpatty. These locations typically experience a significant influx of visitors during the festivities, prompting the need for increased bus availability.

To accommodate late-night commuters, special bus services will operate from 22:00 to 00:30. This timing is intended to support those returning from celebrations, making public transport a viable option for all attendees.

Expanded Services and Heritage Tours

In addition to the increased frequency of regular routes, BEST will also operate specific air-conditioned services on routes No. A-21, A-112, A-116, A-247, A-272, and A-294. Furthermore, the popular ‘Heritage Tour’ bus service is set to commence at 17:30 on December 31 and will continue into the early hours of January 1, 2026, depending on passenger demand.

BEST has encouraged citizens to utilize these additional bus services as a means to alleviate traffic congestion during the festive period. The transport authority emphasized, “BEST appeals to passengers to take advantage of the additional bus services being operated on the above-mentioned routes for their convenience on the night of December 31, 2025.”

Annual Arrangements and Future Plans

This initiative is part of BEST’s annual strategy to manage the heightened demand for transportation during major events and festivals in Mumbai. Earlier this year, the organization also announced a comprehensive overhaul of its bus network. This reorganization includes new routes, modifications to existing services, and a shift of select air-conditioned buses to regular service to enhance connectivity across the city.

According to BEST officials, these changes aim to improve inter-suburban connectivity, reduce congestion at bus depots, and provide smoother travel options between key residential and commercial areas. The enhancements to the bus network reflect BEST’s commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of Mumbai’s commuters.
