Former Maharashtra Minister Shalinitai Patil Dies at 94, Leaders Pay Tribute

Former Maharashtra minister and prominent Congress leader Shalinitai Patil passed away in Mumbai on December 20, 2023, at the age of 94. Patil, known for her significant contributions to Maharashtra’s political landscape, was the wife of late chief minister Vasantdada Patil and held several key ministerial positions during the 1980s.

Patil’s political career began at the grassroots level as a member of the Satara district council. She quickly ascended through the ranks, eventually serving as the president of the Congress women’s wing. Her tenure included representation in the Lok Sabha for Sangli and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Koregaon.
