Dr. Devina Vaidya Appointed Director of Research at Nauni University
Dr. Devina Vaidya has officially assumed the role of Director of Research at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, following the retirement of her predecessor. With an impressive career spanning over 37 years, Dr. Vaidya’s extensive experience encompasses teaching, research, administration, and extension services in the field of horticulture.
Before her new appointment, Dr. Vaidya held significant positions, including Dean of the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Neri and Associate Director at the Regional Horticulture Research Station in Bajaura. She has been affiliated with the university since 1989, where her contributions have been pivotal in advancing research initiatives.
Throughout her career, Dr. Vaidya has successfully managed 11 major research projects funded by various agencies. Her research focuses on critical areas such as postharvest management of fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms, as well as the development of skill infrastructure and agri-entrepreneurship. She has also emphasized food safety and the reduction of postharvest losses, alongside exploring indigenous processing technologies.
Innovations and Contributions
Dr. Vaidya holds several patents in food technology, showcasing her commitment to innovation. Her work includes advancements in herbal formulations, juice preservation techniques, and the development of healthy snack options. She has played a vital role in promoting technologies that are commercially scalable, thereby enhancing industry connections and benefiting the agricultural sector.
In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Vaidya has guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral students in postharvest technology and food science. Her scholarly contributions are well-documented, with numerous publications in reputable national and international journals. Her outstanding work has earned her recognition, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the AEDS and the ICAR Dr. Rajendra Prasad Puraskar for Best Technical Book in Hindi.
