Philadelphia 76ers Face Injury Challenges Ahead of Magic Matchup
The Philadelphia 76ers are preparing for a challenging matchup against the Orlando Magic on November 28, 2023, as they seek their first win in the NBA Cup. The team faces significant hurdles, with seven players listed on the injury report, including key players such as Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George.
Joel Embiid, who has been sidelined for seven games due to right knee injury management, is now listed as questionable for the game. This marks the first time Embiid’s status has been upgraded during his absence, suggesting a potential return. He participated fully in Monday’s practice, which raises hopes that he may take the court against the Magic.
Unfortunately, rookie VJ Edgecombe will miss his second consecutive game due to left calf tightness. Edgecombe reported discomfort following the 123-114 victory against the Milwaukee Bucks last Wednesday. There are currently no updates on when he might return.
Both Maxey and George are probable for the game. Maxey is dealing with a right shoulder sprain, while George is listed with a right ankle sprain. Additionally, Jared McCain is recovering from right thumb surgery but is expected to be available for the matchup.
The team will also be without Kelly Oubre Jr., who is recovering from a left knee sprain, and Adem Bona, who has a right ankle sprain. The 76ers will be eager to have as many players available as possible to regain momentum following a rocky period after a strong 5-1 start to the season. Their last consecutive win occurred on October 28, when they secured a fourth straight victory to kick off the year.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic will be without star player Paolo Banchero but have found success recently, winning six of their last eight games. This places them in a favorable position as they prepare to face the 76ers, who will need to be at near full strength to compete effectively against their conference rivals.
The game will be broadcast nationally on NBC, with streaming options available on Peacock for fans in the United States. International viewers can catch the live action through NBA League Pass. The matchup is scheduled to begin at 20:00 ET at the Xfinity Arena in Philadelphia.
As the 76ers navigate this challenging period, fans can stay updated on team developments, including the latest depth chart, schedule, and roster changes.
