Andhra Chief Minister Envisions India as Top Economy by 2047
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed a bold vision for India’s economic future, projecting that the nation will become the world’s leading economy by 2047. Speaking at the 44th convocation of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in Puttaparthi, Naidu called upon graduates to actively contribute to this ambitious goal. He emphasized the role of Telugu individuals in leading the nation toward this objective by the centenary of India’s independence.
Naidu’s vision aligns closely with the national initiative known as “Viksit Bharat @ 2047,” which is supported by the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Current economic forecasts suggest that India is on track to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2030, with projections estimating its GDP could reach between $30 trillion and $35 trillion by 2047. Naidu’s assertion of India claiming the top spot builds on this optimistic outlook, declaring that “the 21st century belongs to India” and asserting that “nobody can defeat it”.
The chief minister directly linked this ambitious national goal to advancements in technology and the development of human capital. He outlined Andhra Pradesh’s strategy to support India’s rise by focusing on sectors poised for future growth, including artificial intelligence, data centers, quantum computing, aerospace, and semiconductors. Naidu also introduced local initiatives such as the “One Family, One Entrepreneur” program and efforts to transform the Rayalaseema region into a center for high-technology development, highlighting the need for innovation and a skilled workforce.
In a show of political support, Naidu praised Prime Minister Modi, describing him as “the right leader in the right place at the right time,” amid what he perceives as a global leadership crisis. By affirming the connection between Andhra Pradesh’s technological focus and the national economic vision, Naidu aimed to inspire graduates to leverage their education in service of the country’s future.
The chief minister’s call to action resonates with the institute’s guiding principle, “love all, serve all, help ever, hurt never,” urging young leaders to take an active role in shaping India’s destiny. As the nation approaches its centenary of independence, Naidu’s statements serve as both a rallying cry and a reminder of the potential that lies within its youth.
