BJP Leader Questions RJD’s Safety Amid Family Feud in Bihar
Political tensions have escalated in Bihar as BJP leader Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti publicly criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) amid an ongoing family feud. Upon her arrival at Patna airport on the evening of March 12, 2024, Jyoti claimed that the “daughters of RJD were not safe in their homes,” questioning the party’s ability to protect women in the state. Her remarks come at a time when the RJD is grappling with significant internal strife, following a disappointing performance in the recent assembly elections.
Jyoti, who has been appointed as the BJP’s co-observer for the election of the leader of the legislative party in Bihar, expressed her appreciation for the people of Bihar who voted for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for development. “I salute the people of Bihar who have voted for the NDA for development,” she stated, highlighting the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior NDA leaders who are expected to attend the upcoming oath-taking ceremony in Patna.
In response to the unfolding drama, Tej Pratap Yadav, the chief of the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) and a prominent member of the RJD family, condemned the alleged mistreatment of his sister, Rohini Acharya. He characterized the situation as one of “abuse” within the family and indirectly targeted his political rivals, referring to them as “Jaichand.” Yadav issued a stern warning, stating that the “traitors would surely have to pay the price for this misconduct” against his sister.
Tej Pratap Yadav’s comments came after Rohini Acharya’s recent decision to distance herself from politics, which has stirred discussions within Bihar’s political landscape. The RJD’s struggle in the recent assembly elections, where the party secured only 25 seats out of 140 contested in the 243-member assembly, has raised concerns about the future of the Yadav family’s political influence. Rohini’s allegations of familial disrespect have further amplified scrutiny regarding the internal dynamics of the RJD and the roles of family members in its operations.
Tej Pratap Yadav took to social media to express his outrage, sharing a post that emphasized his commitment to protect his sister’s dignity. “We will not tolerate the insult to our sister under any circumstances; the traitors will surely have to pay the price for this misconduct!” he declared. Alongside his message, he shared a poster that stated, “The mistreatment meted out to our Rohini Didi by the Jaichands has shaken our hearts to the core.”
The developments surrounding the RJD family feud highlight the fragile state of Bihar’s political environment. With the party facing criticism from within and external challenges from the BJP, the implications for the Yadav family’s political dynasty remain uncertain. As the situation unfolds, the focus will likely remain on how both the RJD and the BJP navigate these turbulent waters leading up to the legislative elections.
