IIT Bhubaneswar Hosts Hackathon to Innovate Menstrual Health Solutions
The IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park hosted the ‘ReFlow: Menstrual Health Innovation Hackathon 2025’ on March 10, 2025. This event centered on advancing menstrual health and hygiene through innovative solutions. It attracted a diverse group of participants, including start-ups, students, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and young changemakers from across India, all united in their goal to address critical challenges in menstrual health.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in collaborative efforts to co-create solutions. The hackathon aimed to promote menstrual health equity, sustainability, and community-driven awareness, highlighting the importance of innovation in these areas. A total of 76 teams registered for the event, showcasing a wide array of creative ideas focused on menstrual health.
Out of these, 44 teams were selected as finalists. They had the opportunity to present their prototypes and concepts across five key innovation tracks. Finalists showcased their projects through live demonstrations and presentations, which were evaluated by a panel of experts in the field. Their efforts reflected a commitment to transforming how communities access and engage with menstrual health solutions.
The prize distribution ceremony celebrated the winners from each innovation track, marking a successful conclusion to a high-energy event. Participants left the hackathon not only with recognition for their innovative ideas but also with the motivation to continue pursuing advancements in menstrual health. This initiative underscores the critical need for accessible and sustainable solutions in menstrual health, fostering greater awareness and equity in communities across India.
