The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to establish a new government in Bihar following a significant victory in the recent assembly elections. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain announced that the new government will prioritize fulfilling the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly in the areas of development and job creation.

During a press interaction with ANI, Hussain expressed confidence in the NDA’s ability to meet the expectations of the electorate. “The NDA has achieved a resounding victory in Bihar, and soon the NDA government will be formed. Just as the people of Bihar have voted with faith, we will live up to that trust,” he stated. Hussain emphasized the importance of establishing industries and creating employment opportunities in the state.

Leadership and Cabinet Discussions

The leadership of the new government is expected to include Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister, as confirmed by Jitan Ram Manjhi, the founder of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) party. After a meeting with Dharmendra Pradhan, the BJP’s Bihar election in-charge, Manjhi clarified that discussions would not involve cabinet positions, emphasizing that Kumar will be the face of the Chief Minister’s office.

“We will not discuss any ministerial position. I need to discuss certain issues with him. One thing is clear: Nitish Kumar will be the face for the Chief Minister’s post,” Manjhi remarked. He added that his party has never pressured itself to seek cabinet roles, stating, “In our 46 years in politics, we have never demanded any position.”

NDA Secures Strong Majority

The NDA secured a remarkable victory, winning 202 seats out of the 243-member Bihar Assembly, representing a three-fourths majority. This marks the second time the NDA has surpassed the 200-seat threshold in assembly elections, having previously achieved 206 seats in the 2010 polls. In stark contrast, the opposition coalition, Mahagathbandhan, managed to secure only 35 seats, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) winning 25, Congress 6, and others bringing in a handful of seats.

The election results highlight a clear preference among voters for the NDA’s approach to governance and development. As the incoming administration prepares to take office, many in Bihar are hopeful for effective implementation of the promises made during the campaign, particularly in job creation and economic development.

While the political landscape in Bihar continues to evolve, the formation of the NDA government represents a significant shift that could impact the state’s future trajectory. The commitment to fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s promises will be closely monitored by constituents as the new government begins its term.
