New Dialysis Facility Opens at Palladam Government Hospital
The Health Department inaugurated a new dialysis facility at the Government Hospital in Palladam, located in Tiruppur district, on November 11, 2025. This development aims to significantly ease the burden for kidney patients in the densely populated area, who previously had to travel considerable distances for treatment.
M.P. Saminathan, the Minister for Information and Publicity, officially commissioned two dialysis machines during a ceremony attended by Manish S. Narnaware, the Tiruppur Collector, and Meera, the Joint Director of Health Services. The addition of this facility addresses a long-standing need for the 91-bedded hospital, which has been working to enhance its healthcare services.
Prior to the establishment of this facility, local kidney patients were required to travel to government medical college hospitals in Tiruppur and Coimbatore for dialysis. With the introduction of the new machines, the hospital can now provide dialysis treatment for six to eight patients daily, operating from 09:00 to 18:00. Chief Medical Officer Ramasamy emphasized that this service will alleviate the challenges faced by patients seeking regular treatment.
The Palladam Government Hospital is equipped with various medical facilities, including X-ray, ECG, ultrasound scan, and a fully operational laboratory. Additionally, the hospital has a functional 108 ambulance service and a mortuary. Plans are underway for a new building dedicated to a Trauma Care Unit, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹3.5 crore. A similar investment is allocated for the construction of a new Maternity Care building, according to Dr. Ramasamy.
Strategically located on the Coimbatore-Tiruchi National Highway, the hospital plays a crucial role in addressing the immediate medical needs of accident victims. On average, it manages between 80 to 100 accident cases each month, with only severe head injuries being referred to larger medical facilities in Tiruppur and Coimbatore.
The commissioning of the dialysis facility marks a significant advancement in the healthcare services offered at the Palladam Government Hospital, directly benefiting the local community and enhancing access to essential medical care.
