Manchester United Triumphs 4-2 Over Brighton to Enter Top Four
In a thrilling encounter at Old Trafford on Saturday, Manchester United secured a 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, propelling them into the top four of the Premier League. This win marks a significant turnaround for the club, following previous victories against Sunderland and Liverpool.
Dominant Performance from United
United’s Bryan Mbeumo was the star of the match, scoring two goals that contributed to the team’s impressive performance. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and shortly after, Casemiro doubled the lead with a shot that took a crucial deflection off a defender, finding its way into the net in the 34th minute. This gave United a comfortable two-goal advantage going into halftime.
Brighton, despite being behind, showed early promise. However, United’s striking came at a critical juncture, disrupting the visitors’ rhythm. The second half saw Mbeumo extend the lead further just after the hour mark, sending the home crowd into raptures.
Brighton’s Response and Late Drama
Former United player Danny Welbeck made an impact upon his return to Old Trafford, scoring a free-kick that beat goalkeeper Senne Lammens, providing Brighton with a consolation goal. The match took on a nervy tone when Charalampos Kostoulas headed in another goal for Brighton in the second minute of stoppage time, narrowing the score to 4-2.
Despite the late pressure from Brighton, Mbeumo sealed the victory with his second goal, ensuring all three points remained with United. This win signifies United’s third consecutive victory in the league, following their 2-0 triumph against Sunderland and a 2-1 win over Liverpool.
Earlier on the same day, Sunderland climbed to second in the Premier League standings after a dramatic comeback win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Alejandro Garnacho initially put Chelsea ahead, but goals from Wilson Isidor and Chemsdine Tabli turned the match in Sunderland’s favor.
As Manchester United continues to build momentum, the return of form has rekindled hope among fans, looking forward to their upcoming fixtures in the Premier League.
