McDonald’s Revives Iconic Boo Buckets with New Halloween Designs

McDonald’s has announced the highly anticipated return of its iconic ‘Boo Buckets’ for Halloween 2025. This seasonal promotion, which has delighted customers since its inception in 1986, will be available at participating locations across the country for a limited time. The beloved Halloween pails replace the traditional Happy Meal box, offering a festive, reusable container that enhances the holiday spirit.
The fast-food giant describes the return of the ‘Boo Buckets’ as “the spookiest pails of the season.” In a recent statement, McDonald’s emphasized the uniqueness of its offering, stating, “imitation is the most BOO-tiful form of flattery,” while reminding fans that “there’s only one OG Halloween bucket — and it comes with a Happy Meal.”
Exciting New Designs for 2025
This year’s collection features five distinct designs, bringing back popular characters like Ghost, Pumpkin, and Goblin while introducing two new additions: Cat and Zombie. Each bucket will come in one of five vibrant colours — white, orange, green, black, and red — and includes themed stickers for children to personalize their “fa-boo-lous” designs.
McDonald’s has confirmed that each character will showcase three different facial expressions, enhancing their collectability for both nostalgic fans and new customers. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, the Boo Buckets also serve a practical purpose as trick-or-treating containers, merging fun with functionality for Halloween night.
Inside the buckets, the selection of Happy Meal items remains unchanged. Customers can choose from Chicken McNuggets or cheeseburgers, along with fries or apple slices, and a drink.
A Nostalgic Tradition Reborn
Since their original debut nearly four decades ago, McDonald’s Halloween pails have secured a place in pop culture, re-emerging every few years to enthusiastic fanfare. The buzz surrounding this year’s release has been particularly vibrant, with social media users sharing nostalgic photos from previous collections and organizing bucket swaps to complete their sets.
As McDonald’s embraces its retro roots, the ‘Boo Buckets’ continue to serve as both a nostalgic keepsake and an effective seasonal marketing strategy. This revival demonstrates that even decades later, the golden arches still know how to add a “fa-boo-lous” touch to Halloween festivities.
