U.S. Vice President JD Vance announced that no American troops will be deployed to Gaza under the ongoing efforts to establish peace in the region. During a press briefing from the U.S.-Israel Coordination Center in Kiryat Gat, Vance outlined Washington’s role in President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan, which focuses on coordinating regional powers, including Israel and several Gulf Arab states, as well as Turkey and Indonesia, to create an International Stabilisation Force.

Vance emphasized that achieving lasting peace in Gaza will require time and reiterated a stern message to Hamas, warning of “very bad things” should the group violate the ceasefire agreement. His visit coincides with the presence of Trump advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, who are actively participating in coordination efforts following the ceasefire announcement.

Kushner highlighted the commitment to ensuring that reconstruction funds will not be allocated to areas still under Hamas control. He declared that regions controlled by Israel will be transformed into a “new Gaza,” reflecting a significant shift in governance and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Witkoff, after meeting with ten released hostages, praised their resilience and credited Trump for their return.

As discussions advance concerning Gaza’s future governance and the involvement of foreign forces, Vance clarified that any troop presence in Israel must receive consent from the Israeli government. He mentioned that Turkey’s potential participation could be viewed as “constructive,” suggesting a collaborative approach to stabilizing the region.

Despite the fragile ceasefire, Washington remains focused on disarmament, reconstruction, and security, prioritizing these issues over political considerations. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, recognizing the complexities involved in restoring peace in Gaza.
