The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has designated nine immersion sites for the upcoming Durga Visarjan 2025 celebrations, scheduled for October 2, 2025. This initiative aims to facilitate a safe and eco-friendly immersion process during the Navratri festival, which holds significant cultural importance in the region.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the MBMC confirmed that the immersion spots have been established under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Radhabinod A. Sharma, in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Chavan and Additional Municipal Commissioner Sambhaji Panpatte. A joint meeting was convened with police and municipal officials to ensure efficient management of the immersion activities.

The MBMC has outlined the designated immersion locations throughout the city, urging citizens to cooperate during the festivities. The designated sites include:

– Bhayandar (West) – Maritime Jetty
– Uttan Sea Shore
– Swargiya Anand Dighe Ground, Navghar
– Bhayandar (East) – Old Chowpatty
– Bhayandar (East) – New Chowpatty
– Shivar Garden
– Satkari Lake, MIDC, Miragaon
– Sukal Lake, Penkarpada
– Ghodbunder Retibunder

The municipality assures that all sites will be equipped with essential safety measures, including proper lighting, stages, tents, tables, and crowd management arrangements. An official remarked, “Citizens and mandals have been urged to follow the civic guidelines, respect the environment, and immerse idols only at the designated spots. The municipal corporation aims to ensure a peaceful and eco-conscious end to the festival.”

In parallel, the Mumbai Police have implemented extensive security measures in preparation for the Dussehra, Vijayadashami, and Navratri celebrations. These events are expected to draw large crowds, cultural programs, and grand immersion processions of goddess idols. The security arrangements are being overseen by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), following directives from the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.

To maintain public safety and manage traffic, a large contingent of law enforcement personnel has been deployed across the city, including seven Additional Commissioners of Police, 26 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 52 Assistant Commissioners of Police, and nearly 3,000 police officers. Additionally, over 16,500 police personnel will be present to ensure the safety of attendees.

Specialized units, such as SRPF platoons, Rapid Response Teams, Riot Control Teams, and Combat Units, have been stationed at sensitive and high-traffic areas to further bolster security during the celebrations. The Mumbai Police encourage citizens to utilize emergency helplines 100 or 112 for any urgent concerns.

With these preparations in place, the MBMC and Mumbai Police aim to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants in the upcoming Durga Visarjan festivities.
