The Vijayawada Utsav, a cultural festival in Vijayawada, is poised to gain national and international recognition, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu. Speaking as the chief guest at the event organized by the Society for Vibrant Vijayawada, Naidu emphasized the festival’s potential to match the prestige of renowned celebrations such as Mysore Dussehra and Calcutta Durga Puja.

The festival, taking place at various venues including Punnami Ghat and Gollapudi Exhibition Ground, features a diverse array of cultural programs. Naidu noted that Vijayawada, which previously set a world record with a drone show, is now ready to achieve further milestones through its artistic exhibitions.

Celebrating Unity and Artistic Talent

During the festival, MP Kesineni Shivnath announced an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record on October 2, 2023. This attempt will involve 2,500 to 3,000 artists performing in traditional Dussehra costumes from Indira Gandhi Stadium to Benz Circle, scheduled between 17:00 and 19:00. Shivnath highlighted the festival’s significance, stating, “The Vijayawada Utsav represents unity in Andhra Pradesh. This is the biggest festival in the state. Vijayawada region is the capital of arts and culture, and these festivals prove it once again.”

The festival showcases approximately 250 programs that include puppetry, folk dance, garagalu, and Veeranatyam. The organizers have placed a special emphasis on supporting artists from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that the celebration is inclusive and representative of the region’s rich culture.

A Cultural Spotlight on Vijayawada

With events spread across five venues, including Tummalapalli Kalakshetram and Ghantasala Music College, the Vijayawada Utsav aims to highlight the artistic diversity of the region. Artists from North Andhra and other parts of the state are actively participating, showcasing their talents and contributing to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.

The festival not only promotes cultural heritage but also aims to uplift local artists, providing them with a platform to gain recognition. As Vijayawada continues to build its reputation as a cultural hub, the Utsav stands as a testament to the region’s commitment to celebrating its artistic legacy.
