Four Arrested in Attempted Armed Robbery in Central Delhi

Four individuals were arrested in the Turkman Gate area of central Delhi for allegedly attempting to rob a couple using dummy firearms. The arrests occurred late on the night of November 1, 2023, following a swift response by local authorities.

The accused have been identified as Md Shehzan, Gaurav Kumar, Chaudhary Prashant Singh, and Abdul Samad. According to police reports, the intended victims were Allauddin, who is related to Shehzan, and his wife, Noor Jahan.

The robbery attempt unfolded around 23:45 when Allauddin and Noor Jahan were watching television. The couple was startled by a ringing doorbell. Upon answering the door, they were confronted by the four men, who had their faces covered and brandished weapons, including knives.

Fortunately, the couple’s daughter-in-law, Namira, witnessed the incident and raised an alarm. Her quick action attracted the attention of neighbors, prompting a crowd to gather outside the residence. In the midst of the chaos, someone contacted the police, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.

During the police search, the officers discovered two dummy pistols in the possession of Prashant Singh and Gaurav Kumar. Furthermore, they found a large knife with Shehzan and various items, including four rolls of sellotape and three empty bags, with Abdul Samad.

In a statement, a police official confirmed the details surrounding the incident and highlighted the importance of community vigilance in preventing such crimes. The swift response by local residents and law enforcement played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the couple.
