Bangladesh Air Force Training Jet Crashes in Dhaka, One Dead

A training aircraft belonging to the Bangladesh Air Force crashed in the Diabari area of Dhaka on July 21, 2023, resulting in the death of at least one individual and injuries to several others. The aircraft, identified as an F-7 BGI training jet, was on a routine mission when it went down shortly after 1:06 PM local time.
Witnesses reported seeing the plane crash near the Milestone School and College, where the incident caused significant panic among local residents. The aircraft caught fire upon impact, generating thick smoke in the vicinity. Emergency services responded promptly, dispatching eight units from the Bangladesh Fire Service to manage the situation.
Fire Service duty officer Lima Khanam confirmed the crash location, stating, “The training aircraft crashed at the Milestone School and College in Diabari. Our team has recovered one body. The Air Force has rescued four people with injuries and taken them away.” The identity of the deceased has yet to be disclosed, and there has been no official statement regarding the pilots involved in the crash.
According to a spokesperson from Milestone School and College, the aircraft crashed near the school gate while classes were in session. “The plane fell on the gate and crashed nearby. A class was in session where the plane crashed. The injured are being taken out one by one,” the spokesperson remarked.
As rescue efforts continue, the Bangladesh Air Force and local authorities have not yet provided a comprehensive statement regarding the cause of the crash or the condition of the injured. An investigation is anticipated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, with further details expected as authorities work to address the aftermath of the crash.
