Liverpool Secures Will Wright from Salford City for £200,000

Liverpool FC has successfully reached an agreement to sign forward Will Wright from Salford City for an initial fee of £200,000 (approximately $267,000). The decision comes despite considerable interest from Arsenal FC, highlighting Liverpool’s ambitions in the transfer market.
Wright, who is only 17 years old, made his professional debut for Salford in the EFL Trophy against Wolverhampton Wanderers’ under-21 team last November. Since then, he has shown promise as a prolific goal scorer at youth levels and made two appearances in League Two during the last season.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Liverpool’s project and the opportunity to remain in the North West played a crucial role in Wright’s decision to join the Premier League champions. Arsenal had also expressed interest in the young talent, but the allure of Liverpool’s development pathway ultimately won out.
Once his move is finalized, Wright will integrate into Liverpool’s under-21 squad, which is now coached by Rob Page, the former manager of the Welsh national team. Page’s recent appointment follows the departure of Barry Lewtas, who had a long tenure at the club, managing various age groups across twelve years.
The transfer marks another significant step for Liverpool as they continue to bolster their squad with young talent while maintaining a focus on future development. Wright’s potential to contribute to the club’s success will be closely monitored as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
