Search Underway for Missing Teen After Sea Incident in Kalpakkam

A 15-year-old boy is missing after being swept into the sea while swimming with friends at Kalpakkam, near Chennai, on the evening of March 15, 2024. The missing teen, identified as Prasanna Venkataramana, was reportedly swimming with classmates Saran Kumar and Tharun when strong waves pulled them away from the shore.
The incident occurred when the three boys decided to take a dip in the sea after school. Witnesses observed the group struggling in the water as the waves intensified, prompting immediate action from onlookers. While Saran and Tharun were rescued and brought back to safety, Prasanna was not located.
Search Operations In Progress
Local authorities, including the Kalpakkam police, have mobilized multiple agencies to initiate search and rescue operations for Prasanna. The police have reached out to the coastal security group and the coast guard to assist in the ongoing efforts.
