Labour Ministry Alerts Public to Fraudulent Job Websites

The Ministry of Labour and Employment in India has issued a warning about two fraudulent websites that are misleading job seekers. On September 3, 2023, the ministry identified the sites, viksitbharatrozgaryojana.org and another link, as fake portals falsely claiming to be affiliated with government recruitment initiatives.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized its lack of association with these websites and urged the public to refrain from sharing personal information or making any financial transactions. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit verified that viksitbharatrozgaryojana.org is indeed a fraudulent site created to exploit job seekers by masquerading as an official recruitment platform.
The ministry clarified that the legitimate portal for the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, a scheme introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day, officially launched in August. Job seekers are encouraged to access accurate information through the legitimate government channels: pmvbry.epfindia.gov.in or pmvbry.labour.gov.in.
In light of these deceptive practices, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has called on citizens, employers, and other stakeholders to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities. The ministry also advised individuals who suspect they have encountered cyber crimes to report them through the official government portal at cybercrime.gov.in.
The rise of these fraudulent websites highlights the need for increased awareness about online scams, particularly in the job market. As the government continues to work towards creating genuine employment opportunities, it is crucial for job seekers to verify the authenticity of job portals before engaging with them.
