Indian Soldiers Celebrate Diwali with Festivities at the LoC

Indian Army soldiers stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector celebrated Diwali on October 19, 2025, by lighting earthen lamps and bursting firecrackers. This initiative brought the festive spirit to a region where many celebrate away from their families. Officers participated in prayers and cultural festivities, emphasizing their commitment to national security while fostering a sense of celebration in remote areas.
The soldiers expressed that observing Diwali at their posts is a testament to their dedication to the safety of the nation. As they fulfilled their duties, they highlighted the importance of maintaining a festive atmosphere, even in challenging conditions. One soldier noted, “Celebrating together keeps our spirits high, and it reminds us of home.”
BSF Celebrates Diwali at the Attari Border
In a similar spirit, the Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated Diwali at the Attari border in Amritsar, Punjab. Officers engaged in prayers and festive rituals, showcasing their commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens during the celebrations. Officer Ruby remarked that their celebration was aimed at allowing citizens to enjoy Diwali peacefully, despite being away from their families.
Officer Khushpreet Kaur shared that the day began with prayers at a local temple, followed by festive activities including the bursting of firecrackers. Soldier Anuj Kumar described the BSF as his second family, emphasizing the unity and camaraderie among the officers as they carry out their duties, particularly during significant occasions like Diwali.
Bringing Joy to Local Communities
In Tangdhar, near the LoC, Indian Army officers extended their Diwali celebrations to local children, fostering a sense of community and joy in the border region. The Diwali Mahotsav featured activities such as lighting diyas, sharing sweets, and enjoying cultural performances. A local resident expressed gratitude for the Army’s presence, stating, “We celebrate Diwali with the Indian Army. This festival strengthens peace and brotherhood in the border areas. The Army supports us, and together we live in unity.”
These celebrations underscore the vital bond between the armed forces and local communities, illustrating how festive occasions can bridge divides even in challenging environments. The events not only highlight the soldiers’ dedication but also reinforce the spirit of togetherness that transcends borders.
The proactive engagement of the Indian Army and BSF during Diwali serves as a reminder of their unwavering commitment to both their duties and the communities they protect. As celebrations continue, the spirit of Diwali resonates across regions, bringing hope and unity to all involved.
