The Uttar Pradesh government has reported significant advancements in health services, benefiting over 5 million residents across the Prayagraj division. This initiative aims to provide essential medical assistance to economically disadvantaged individuals in four districts: Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, and Pratapgarh.

According to Dr Rakesh Sharma, additional director of health, a total of 50,05,317 individuals have been included in the beneficiary list. Notably, 38,51,979 golden cards have been issued to residents in the Prayagraj division. These cards facilitate access to free treatment for serious illnesses, allowing families to receive coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh each year.

The impact of these schemes is evident, with 2,94,410 beneficiaries having received treatment so far. Among these, 1,36,318 individuals were treated in government hospitals, while 1,58,092 sought assistance in private facilities. The government has allocated an impressive Rs 206.50 crore for treatments in private hospitals, which beneficiaries can claim.

The Prayagraj district leads the division with the highest number of beneficiaries, totaling 18,91,410. Following this are Pratapgarh with 12,35,285, Fatehpur at 11,87,538, and Kaushambi with 6,91,084 beneficiaries. The government is also working to identify beneficiaries who have relocated, ensuring they continue to receive the support they are entitled to. Collaboration with Asha workers and various departments is ongoing to facilitate this process.

Dr Sharma emphasized the commitment to improving health facilities in the region, stating that the schemes are vital for assisting the underprivileged in their medical needs. As these initiatives expand, the focus remains on enhancing the overall health outcomes for the communities within the Prayagraj division.
