Preparations Intensify for 40th All India Indira Marathon

Preparations are in full swing for the 40th All India Prize Money Indira Marathon, set to take place on November 19, 2023, in Prayagraj. Officials from various departments, including the district administration, police, Public Works Department (PWD), Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC), and the sports department, are collaborating to ensure that all arrangements are completed on time.

Applications for the marathon will be open both online and offline starting from November 4. Athletes aged 18 and above, regardless of gender, can register during office hours. This year’s marathon features a distance of 42.19 kilometers, attracting participants from across the country.

Prize Money and Organizational Details

According to Sanjay Srivastava, Media Incharge of the Indira Marathon, the prize money has been significantly increased for the top positions. The first-place winner will receive ₹2 lakh, while the second-place winner will take home ₹1 lakh. The third-place finisher will be awarded ₹75,000, alongside 11 consolation prizes of ₹10,000 each. This initiative is designed to encourage greater participation and enhance the competitive spirit of the event.

Under the guidance of District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, senior police and administrative officials conducted a review of the preparations. Verma emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth experience for all participants along the marathon route. To this end, sector magistrates will be deployed throughout the course, and the Executive Engineer of the PWD has been tasked with repairing any issues along the race routes.

Health and Safety Measures

Ensuring the health and safety of participants is a top priority for the organizing committee. Health department officials have been instructed to set up adequate medical arrangements, including the availability of doctors, medical kits, and ambulances along the route. This comprehensive approach aims to provide immediate assistance should any emergencies arise during the event.

The officials expressed their commitment to maximizing participation in the marathon, highlighting its significance as a major sporting event in the region. With meticulous planning and extensive preparations, the Indira Marathon is poised to be a successful and memorable occasion for all involved.
