Anne Hathaway Embraces Sobriety After Life-Altering Experience

Anne Hathaway, acclaimed star of films such as *The Devil Wears Prada*, has publicly committed to a sober lifestyle, influenced by her personal experiences with alcohol. In a candid moment during an episode of *The Ellen DeGeneres Show* in October 2019, Hathaway revealed that a particularly challenging morning made her rethink her drinking habits.
The actress recounted a time when she faced the consequences of a night of indulgence. While preparing to drive her son to school, she felt the weight of her inebriated state. “I quit drinking back in October,” she stated during the show, indicating a significant lifestyle change. Hathaway emphasized her commitment, declaring that she plans to remain sober while her son is living at home. “I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house, just because I don’t totally love the way I do it,” she explained.
As her son grows older, she recognizes the importance of being present for him, particularly in the mornings when he needs her. Hathaway’s reflection on her past experiences included a striking admission about her last hangover, which lasted an astonishing five days. “When I’m at a stage in my life where there is enough space for me to have a hangover, I’ll start drinking again, but that won’t be until my kid is out of the house,” she stated, showcasing her determination to prioritize her family over her past habits.
Memorable Nights and Career Highlights
Hathaway also shared a memorable night spent in Mauritius while filming *Serenity*. During this time, she joined co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves for a tour of local bars, where they sampled some of the finest rums. When asked about the experience, she humorously admitted, “I don’t remember.” This anecdote highlights the stark contrast between her past lifestyle and her current commitment to sobriety.
As Hathaway continues her career, she has several exciting projects lined up. She is set to reprise her iconic role in a sequel to *The Devil Wears Prada*, which has generated significant buzz among fans. Additionally, she will star in an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller *Verity*, further solidifying her status as a versatile and engaging actress.
Hathaway’s journey towards sobriety serves as an inspiring reminder of the personal challenges many face, particularly in the high-pressure environment of Hollywood. Her openness about her struggles and determination to make positive changes resonate with fans around the world, illustrating the profound impact of personal choices on one’s life and career.
