Indian Animated Film ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ Breaks Records with Rs 300 Crore Milestone

The Indian animated film Mahavatar Narasimha has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian animated production to surpass the Rs 300 crore mark globally. In just 26 days following its release on July 25, 2025, the film amassed Rs 280 crore in box office collections. This groundbreaking achievement signifies a new era for Indian animation, traditionally overshadowed by live-action films.
A New Benchmark in Indian Animation
Released by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narasimha has captivated audiences across multiple demographics, showcasing the universal appeal of animated storytelling. The film is available in five Indian languages, making it accessible to a wider audience. It combines rich mythological narratives with cutting-edge animation technology, effectively bringing to life the legendary tale of Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film is notable not only for its impressive visual aesthetics but also for its emotional depth. The high-quality animation captures the essence of Indian culture while resonating with viewers from diverse backgrounds. This blend of traditional storytelling and modern animation has positioned Mahavatar Narasimha as a landmark in Indian cinema.
Setting the Stage for Future Animations
Hombale Films, known for its innovative approach to mass entertainment with hits like KGF and Kantara, continues to push boundaries with this project. The producers—Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai—envision Mahavatar Narasimha as the beginning of a larger animated universe centered around the ten avatars of Vishnu. Future installments are already in the pipeline, with anticipated releases including Mahavatar Parshuram in 2027 and Mahavatar Raghunandan in 2029.
The success of Mahavatar Narasimha not only establishes a new benchmark for animated films in India but also enhances the global perception of Indian cinema. As the film approaches the Rs 300 crore milestone, it is clear that Indian animation is now positioned to compete with the best in the world, paving the way for future projects that can rival international standards. With its unique storytelling and visual splendor, Mahavatar Narasimha is a testament to the potential of animated films in the Indian film industry.
