Three men were arrested in Bengaluru for their involvement in a significant house burglary in the Mariyappanapalya area, which resulted in the theft of valuables worth approximately Rs 50 lakh. The incident took place on August 3, 2023, when the complainant returned from a religious function in Koratagere taluk, Tumakuru district, only to discover that the front door of their home had been forced open.

Upon entering the house, the complainant found that burglars had ransacked the property, stealing a variety of items including gold and silver ornaments, watches, and cash. Following the discovery, a case was promptly registered with the Jnanabharathi police.

The investigation led to the arrest of the primary suspect, Abraham, aged 24, who was already in judicial custody for a separate case at the CK Achukattu police station. On August 22, police obtained a 15-day custody order to interrogate him further. During questioning, Abraham admitted his involvement in the burglary and identified two accomplices.

The police moved quickly based on Abraham’s confession, leading to the arrest of Nikhil MK, 25, on August 27, near Sapthagiri College in Hesaraghatta. Nikhil also confessed and was subsequently remanded to six days of police custody. Another suspect, Dhanush, 25, was apprehended on September 1 in Devihalli, Nelamangala, and received a 10-day custody remand.

As the investigation continued, the trio disclosed that they had distributed the stolen valuables to accomplices, including a suspect’s brother and friends. Between August 28 and September 9, police recovered a total of 423 grams of gold, 710 grams of silver, two watches, and Rs 4,156 in cash. Additionally, a two-wheeler believed to have been used during the crime was also seized.

As of September 4, Abraham was returned to prison, while the other two suspects were placed in judicial custody as investigations proceed. This case highlights ongoing issues related to property crime in urban areas, prompting police to enhance their efforts in combating such incidents.
