Mumbai police officers have faced significant challenges over the past three days as many have not returned home since activist Manoj Jarange initiated a hunger strike at Azad Maidan. In response, the Maharashtra Police Boys’ Association has stepped in to provide essential support, ensuring that food and water are available to the officers stationed at the protest site.

Rahul Arjunrao Dubale, the founder and president of the Maharashtra Police Boys’ Association, spoke about the initiative, stating, “Mumbai police… your hunger and thirst are our responsibility.” Throughout the day, members of the association mobilized across the city to distribute meals and hydration to police officers, staff, and anyone else on duty. Dubale confirmed that this service will continue twice daily until the protest concludes, highlighting the dedication of the team involved.

The association is committed to distributing approximately 1,400 packets of food and water bottles each day. Dubale also reached out to the families of police personnel, urging them to participate in the effort. “When you leave home, please carry one extra lunchbox. Whenever you see a police officer standing at a chowk on duty, give them a water bottle and some food,” he implored. He emphasized that it is crucial for police families to take this initiative to prevent their loved ones from going hungry.

This outreach effort not only aims to sustain the officers during the ongoing protest but also fosters a sense of community and support among police families and the public. The Maharashtra Police Boys’ Association’s actions underline the commitment to ensuring the well-being of those who serve in law enforcement, especially during challenging times.
