Bengal Educators Win National Award for Vocational Training Excellence

Two educators from West Bengal have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to vocational training in India. Sukanta Konar and Indranil Mukherjee, affiliated with the Govt Industrial Training Institute in Durgapur, are among the sixteen recipients of the National Teachers’ Award 2025. This prestigious accolade highlights their commitment to enhancing vocational education in the country.
The announcement was made public by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, in a post on X on Friday. She expressed pride in the achievements of Konar and Mukherjee, stating that this award reflects the state government’s dedication to developing a world-class technical education and vocational training ecosystem. Banerjee emphasized the importance of employment-focused training and skilling for the youth, congratulating the awardees, their families, and the broader technical education community in the state.
In addition to the vocational training awards, West Bengal also boasts two schoolteachers, Tanusree Das and Madhurima Acharya, who are among the forty-five individuals set to receive the National Teachers’ Award on September 5, 2025. This recognition underscores the state’s commitment to fostering quality education at all levels.
The National Teachers’ Award is an initiative aimed at acknowledging the exceptional efforts of educators across India. The awards serve not only to honor individual achievements but also to inspire others within the educational community.
Banerjee’s message reflected a broader vision for the future of education and vocational training in West Bengal, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement and innovation in teaching methodologies. The recognition of Konar and Mukherjee highlights the critical role that vocational training plays in equipping young individuals with the skills necessary for success in the workforce.
As West Bengal celebrates these achievements, the state reaffirms its commitment to advancing educational standards and opportunities for its youth, paving the way for a brighter future through skill development and vocational training.
