Carmel School Celebrates Grandparents Day with Heartfelt Tribute

Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School in Mangaluru celebrated Grandparents Day on October 18, bringing together students and their grandparents for a day filled with joy and appreciation. The event, organized by the Nursery and Kindergarten sections, took place in the school auditorium and highlighted the important role grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren.
Celebration Highlights and Special Guests
The celebration featured Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, director of the Family Life Centre in Bajjodi, diocese of Mangalore, as the chief guest. He was joined by principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, and other dignitaries, all of whom contributed to the warm atmosphere of the event.
As grandparents arrived, the children welcomed them with roses, symbolizing love and respect. The program began with a moving prayer dance performed by the UKG students, followed by a cheerful welcome dance by the LKG students, setting a joyful tone for the festivities. Tr Preema, a teacher at the school, extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees.
Cultural Performances and Engagement
The cultural program showcased a range of vibrant performances by Nursery, LKG, and UKG students, with a notable skit presented by the UKG students that illustrated the precious bond between grandparents and grandchildren. To enhance the experience, engaging games were organized for the grandparents, filling the auditorium with laughter and excitement. Winners of the games received prizes, further enriching the sense of community.
In his address, Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza encouraged the elderly to embrace life with positivity. He emphasized the importance of staying active through simple exercises, yoga, and walks. He also urged grandparents to share their life experiences with their grandchildren, imparting values and traditions while nurturing a strong spiritual connection through daily prayer.
Fr Alwyn commended the enthusiastic participation of the grandparents, praising their energy and cheerful spirit throughout the event. The celebration was anchored by the LKG and UKG students, who impressed everyone with their confidence and poise.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the students, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, vice principal Sr Anitha, coordinator Sr Ashwina, and all those who contributed to making the day special. The event served as a loving tribute to grandparents, who left the venue with hearts full of joy, pride, and cherished memories.
