Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following early trends in the Bihar assembly elections. As counting commenced on November 14, 2023, initial reports indicated that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was leading significantly, suggesting a strong performance by the coalition.

Yadav addressed reporters in Indore, stating, “The Bihar assembly election results demonstrate the strength of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. After victories in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi, the NDA has won once again in Bihar. This is the impact of Modi’s leadership.” His comments were made as the NDA was reportedly leading in 166 seats, well above the majority mark of 122 in the 243-seat assembly.

The Congress-led INDIA bloc was trailing significantly, leading in only 59 seats. Yadav criticized the Congress party, claiming they were reacting poorly to the election results. “As always, the Congress is scratching the pole like a frustrated cat after seeing the results,” he remarked.

In his statements, Yadav pointed to the campaigning atmosphere in Bihar as a positive sign for the NDA’s prospects. He mentioned that he sensed a favorable political climate for the coalition during the campaign, a sentiment that seemed to be confirmed by the election results.

The Chief Minister also took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who he claimed was on vacation in Madhya Pradesh during the elections. “While the assembly elections were underway in Bihar, the Congress’ ‘prince’ was vacationing in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress has no right to say anything about the outcome,” Yadav stated.

On November 9, 2023, Gandhi had visited Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh to address a training camp for district Congress presidents, during which he also participated in a jungle safari. Yadav questioned Gandhi’s decision to leave the Bihar elections, asking, “Why did he leave the ongoing Bihar election and come to Madhya Pradesh?”

As the trend of results continues to unfold, the implications for both the NDA and the opposition parties will likely shape the political landscape in Bihar and beyond. The results of this election could have lasting impacts on party strategies and voter sentiment moving forward.
