YSRC Leader Criticizes NDA Government Over ₹5,600 Crore Debt

The opposition leader in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, has criticized the ruling NDA coalition government for its handling of the state’s economic situation, citing a staggering debt of ₹5,600 crore. He claims this financial burden has overshadowed the celebration of the Sankranti festival, impacting various segments of society.

Concerns Over Economic Distress

During a press conference held in Visakhapatnam, Satyanarayana expressed discontent over the government’s failure to provide adequate support to farmers, students, and employees. He highlighted critical issues such as escalating land prices, insufficient crop prices, and the persistent high costs of urea, which collectively contribute to the hardships faced by the agricultural community.

Satyanarayana pointed out that private educational institutions have not paid teachers’ salaries for two months, raising alarms about the stability of the education sector. He also criticized the government for neglecting the Aarogyasri Health Scheme, which is essential for providing healthcare to underprivileged citizens. “These issues reflect a lack of priority for the welfare of the people,” he stated.

Law and Order Concerns

In his address, Satyanarayana raised alarms about law and order in the state, referencing the recent murder of a YSRC worker named Salman. He condemned incidents of village boycotts and the controversial requirement for Aadhaar cards, even during funerals, as signs of deteriorating social conditions. These events, according to him, indicate that the government’s focus is misplaced.

He further criticized the lack of cultural programmes during the Sankranti festivities, alleging that the government had failed to organize any events while cockfights took precedence in the celebrations. This, he argued, diminishes the cultural significance of the festival.

Satyanarayana also commented on the industrial development in Andhra Pradesh, asserting that the projects being initiated are primarily those agreed upon during the previous YSRC regime. “The current government has not introduced any new projects nor addressed the pressing needs of the people,” he claimed, underscoring a perceived stagnation in growth and development.

As the state grapples with these issues, Satyanarayana’s criticisms highlight the growing discontent among various communities and raise questions about the effectiveness of the current administration’s policies. The impact of the government’s financial decisions and its prioritization of cultural and social issues will be closely monitored as Andhra Pradesh moves forward.
