Pakistani Spy Arrested in Rajasthan for Sharing Army Secrets
A Pakistani national has been arrested in Rajasthan for allegedly sharing sensitive information about the Indian Army with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. The suspect, identified as Prakash Singh, also known as Badal, was apprehended by the CID Intelligence in Sri Ganganagar. He is accused of using social media to relay strategic details about military operations and installations in the Indian states of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat.
The arrest took place after the intelligence agency conducted surveillance on Singh, who is a 34-year-old resident of Ferozepur, Punjab. He was observed near a military installation in Sadhuwali on November 27, 2023. Following his capture, Singh was presented in court, where authorities secured a 10-day remand for further investigation.
Details of Espionage Activities
During interrogation at the Joint Interrogation Center in Sri Ganganagar, intelligence officials uncovered that Singh had been in consistent communication with the ISI since an operation referred to as Operation Sindoor. His activities included providing critical information on Indian Army vehicles, military installations, and border terrain. This intelligence gathering extended to details about bridges, roads, railway lines, and ongoing construction projects.
In addition to relaying military information, Singh allegedly assisted in other espionage activities by supplying one-time passwords (OTPs) for mobile numbers registered in the names of Indian individuals. These OTPs were reportedly used by Pakistani agents to access WhatsApp accounts for further espionage and anti-national activities.
Legal Proceedings and Implications
The intelligence agencies have confirmed these findings through technical examinations of Singh’s mobile phone, which provided substantial evidence against him. As a result, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Singh at the Special Police Station in Jaipur under the provisions of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. He was officially arrested on Monday.
This case highlights the ongoing challenges of espionage in the region and the vigilance required by security agencies to protect national interests. The developments underscore the importance of intelligence operations in safeguarding sensitive information and countering threats from foreign agencies.
